PImMS 2
The second generation of PImMS features a significantly enlarged sensor at 324×324 pixels.
It is planned to produce a Back Side Illuminated (BSI) version of the sensor to increase the fill factor and so the pin count has been reduced to allow for in-vacuum operation.
Other new circuitry increases the possible rate at which the experimental period can be repeated. Extra digital taps have been added along the of the output register so that data can be read more quickly. This feature pushes the data rate beyond what the maximum for the existing USB2 interface, so to take advantage of this, some further development to implement a CameraLink system would be required.
